Pokhara Jomsom Muktinath Trek is an easy trek that takes you to the Mustang region of Nepal. The trek passes through the world deepest gorge of River Kali Gandaki along the dense forest of Rhododendron. The area fascinates beautiful villages settled by traditional Gurung, Magar and Thakali. Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Dinner)
On your arrival in Kathmandu International Airport, one of our office representative will pick up you and escort you to the hotel as well as help you to check-in at hotel. After refreshment, you will be briefed about the next day trip. In the evening, we, the Hiking Nepal, will offer you a welcome dinner introducing Nepalese cuisine and culture.
Day 02: Rest Day in Kathmandu, Option for Cultural tour in Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: Breakfast)
Today is rest day in Kathmandu considering your late arrival. You can also use this day as sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. In such a case we can also organize it for you. You will be introduced with guide and takes you to UNESCO Heritages sites of the valley where you will observe living heritage of Medieval Nepal - Witness the biggest Hindu temple of Nepal, Pashupatinath and capture the sacred moments of Hindu death ritual at Aryaghat in Pashupatinath. Stroll the lively streets of Kathmandu Old Market Asan to Kathmandu Durbar Square and visit the home of The Living Goddess Kumari, Nepalese style of Architecture as well as astonishing wooden carving. A short drive from Kathmandu Durbar Square will take you to a hill top stupa called as “Swyambhu” meaning “self -emerge” and belief that the hill emerged impulsively from the great lake that once covered Kathmandu valley.
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (Altitude: 823 m/2710 ft. Drive: 5/6 hrs. Meal: Breakfast)
Early morning, after breakfast, catch Tourist bus or we can also organize a private vehicle for you. Viewing countryside villages, farm, shops and river, you will reach at Pokhara. A beautiful place with tremendous views of mountains and lakes. You can also go for Boating at Fewa Lake. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul. Trek to Tikhe Dhunga (Altitude: 1,577m/5205 ft.; Drive: 1 hrs. Trek: 3/4 hrs.)
After Breakfast, you can get ready for your journey to Nayapul from where you will starts your trek. You will have an hour drive along the Modi River valley. Starts a short trek from Nayapul, crossing a bridge over Modi Khola, and following muddy trail, you will reach at Tirkhedhunga. Spend overnight at local lodge.
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (Altitude: 2,800m/9,186ft Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meals: BLD)
Today, you will walk in a long uphill stone steps till Ulleri, a fine stopover for rest and lunch. On the way, you can catch splendid views of mountains, amazing landscape and cheerful locals. After tiresome walk in steep uphill till Ulleri, you will get an easy zigzag trail along the shade of refreshing forest, streams, reach at Ghorepani. It is actually located on the ridge separating the valley of Kali-Gandaki from the valley of Modi Khola as well as the highest point of this trip. It offers a fantastic view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan range. Spend overnight at local lodge.
Day 06: Early Morning excursion to Poon-hill, trek to Tatopani (Altitude: At Poonhill: 3210 m/10531 ft. Tatopani: 3930 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)
Wake up early morning and make your journey to Poon Hill. It is a perfect place for marvelous view of sunrise over the snowcapped mountainous peaks. Walking for an hours in steep uphill really amaze you when you grasp eye-popping view of mountains in the north, turning into yellowish color step by step by the strike of sun rays over the snowcapped top. After spending an hour, return back to lodge for breakfast, then continue trek to the next spot- Tadapani. You will pass the forest of Rhododendron, Fir and Pine walking in ups and down trail. Now, you will reach at a beautiful place- Tadapani, surrounded by Rhododendron forest and splendid view of Mt. Fishtail. Overnight at Local lodge.
Day 07: Trek to Ghasa Altitude: 2010 m/ 6630 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)
You will follow the trail that ascends gently up the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, towards the village-Dana, which is surrounded by orange groves. On the way, you will encouters local people selling baskets of oranges. Just beyond the small hamlet of Rupse, a thundering waterfall cascades down beside the trail. Afterwards, the trail enters the steep and narrow section of the gorge. You will follow the stone path well-constructed. As the rock cliff ends, you head towards Ghasa, a pretty Thakali village. The village is beautified with flat-roofed Tibetan style houses in Ghasa.
Day 08: Trek to Marpha (Altitude: 2670 m/ 8810 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)
Today, you will trek towards Marpha. Marpha is especially famous for Himalayas Apple. Here, you can get Apple Brandy and renowned as Marpha Brandy- don’t missed to taste. In the center of the village, you will see the rapidly expanding Solmi Gompa. It has an old giant prayer-wheel brought from Tibet and is here for more than hundred years. Another attraction is Marpha Horticultural Research Station that was established in 1966 for introducing new crops for this region. Spend overnight at local lodge.
Day 09: Trek to Kagbeni (Altitude: 2810 m/9273 ft. Trek: 4-5 hrs. Meal: BLD)
Begins to trek after breakfast towards Kagbeni. The area will definitely please your eyes once you reach at Kagbeni viewing the unique landscape. The lush vegetation is what you might have missed during other days trek. Resting for an hour or so after reaching there and talking a stroll to the small town is quite an experience. Overnight in a local lodge at Kagbeni.
Day 10: Trek to Muktinath (Altitude: 3710 m/12243 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)
After breakfast you resume your trekking along the path up to the vast gravel riverbed of the Kali Gandaki. You come across a stream and verdant vegetation. On crossing a small ridge to Chhancha Lhumba at 2730 meters, you continue heading towards Muktinath. Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri dominates the view as you ascend to Khingar (3200 meters). More meadows, streams and lush vegetation can be seen along the trail as it paves to Jharkot (3500 meters). You encounter the ruins of the Dzong and pristine villages of Purang and Changur. As you trek past mule stables and steep barren hillside, you enter Ranipauwa. Ranipauwa for years has remained an ideal resting point for pilgrims and travelers. On trekking further, you enter Muktinath. Temples and religious shrines are the major attractions of this holy place. Pilgrims flock to the Buddhist gompa and pagoda-style temple of Lord Vishnu. Muktinath is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.
Day 11: Trek to Jomsom (Altitude: 2720 m/ 8976 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)
You will descent through the Kali Gandaki Valley to Jomsom, the windy city & the home to the apple orchard of Nepal. Coming down hill, you always have to be cautious and not be excited to reach the destination. You can trace a magnificent view of Nilgiri. Spend overnight at local lodge.
Day 12: Flight to Pokhara (Altitude: 823 m/2691 ft. Flight: 20 minutes Meal: B)
From the windy city Jomsom and you will take a flight back to Pokhara. Leaving the tranquil isolation, as you land at Pokhara, you will be once again transferred to your hotel in the city. Rest of the evening at your own.
Day 13: Drive to Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: B/D)
You can either fly or drive to Kathmandu based on your feasibility and comfort. During flight, you can reach Kathmandu within 30 minutes after departure from Pokhara. Whilst, driving will takes around 7 hours to reach Kathmandu, however, you can grasp the countryside life. The 1st half of the trip is along the highway above Seti and Marsyandi Rivers and the latter half winds along Trisuli River. Green hills along the spiral roads, stopping in between for snacks (fish) are the trip highlights. Upon arriving at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel in the city. Take your time for refreshment. Evening, we, Hiking Nepal team, invite you for a dinner. Give us chance to make your evening a wonderful time.
Day 14: Depart Kathmandu (Altitude: 1350/4428 ft. Meal: B)
Our tour officer will pick you up from your hotel three hours prior to your departure time. You will be escorted in a private vehicle to the airport for your final departure. Have a safe flight home.
