The things that appears in mind when we think about travelling are the landscape, food, people and obviously the camera to capture the beautiful experience that can be remembered as a memory throughout lifetime .

If you are planning to trek in Nepal, camera should be one of the most important device you should bring.  “Every step you pass and every snap you take could be the best memories” together with having a good time.

There are certain things to consider regarding the choice of Camera before visiting any place.

Weather is the main thing that can make or break the scenario of capturing the pictures. While trekking in the Himalayas, you must think about the temperature as the weather is not at all predictable. It goes on changing from season to season. Even in a single day the weather at different point may vary drastically. Generally, as you gain the elevation the temperature tends to drops.  If you are travelling in the month of December to February as well as during the month of monsoon from July to August, you must think about your camera. As, camera is more vulnerable to cold/rain, it requires more precaution. Kathmandu at present is quiet dusty because of the construction and expansion of the roads, you might have to safeguard your camera. Likewise, time is another factor you must think about while visiting to the place. Whether you are trekking for longer days or just for a week determine how much weight could be of your equipment. The batteries, charger, lenses, memory cards and device covers are main things that should be carried. You should bring enough extra batteries and memory card for your digital camera.

During trek, you can get to recharge your camera batteries in most of the lodges with some extra charges. Adaptors to fit the outlets in Nepal can be easily available to purchase in Kathmandu. Also, the digital video camcorders are very useful which allow to record sound as well as picture/videos.

The choice of camera surely depends on the purpose whether for the memories or for the commercial use. There is no any hard and fast rule about the particular camera to be brought while trekking to Nepal. Any type of camera could work, but you should consider measures to save the batteries in the mountains. The high altitude and the change in temperature can severely affect the functioning of the camera as the cold weather is more prone to ceasing of the batteries. It is better to keep the batteries in the jacket as the body temperature will help to keep them warm.
