Annapurna Base Camp has different route entrance. Most Neplease Agencies will take their client from Gorephani for sunrise view in Poonhill via Nayapul

Nayapul → Ghorepani → Chhomrong → Dovan → Deurali

→ Machhapuchhre → Annapurna Base Camp

Route Via Dhampus

Phedi → Dhampus → Landruk → Jhinu Danda → Chhomrong → Dovan

→ Deurali → Machhapuchhre → Annapurna Base Camp

Best Season to Trek Annapurna Base Camp

Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be done throughout the year but to get most out of it, you have to select the best months.

Spring (March, April and May) and Autumn (September, October, November) is the main trekking season in Nepal. The reason behind is clear, sunny & pleasant weather. And most importantly you can enjoy the Himalayan vista than other season.

Monsoon (Jun, July, August) — This is generally a monsoon season in Nepal, You need to carry your rain gears and be ready for slippery trails.

Winter (December, January, Feburary) — At this time it can be extreme cold with strong cold winds, icy pathway, snowfall, and temperatures reach minus degrees. If you love this season then it might be the best option for you.

Trekkers who want to escape overcrowded season of Autumn and Spring season then Winter and Monsoon Season is perfect for you.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Difficulty

With high determination and basic fitness level one could achieve their dream of being at base of mighty Annapurna. At the time of trekking one should walk 6–7 hrs a day.

Prior to trekking be prepared mentally and physically. Aerobic training includes the training for your heart, lung, and blood cells. You can go for regular jogging, walking up and down, and cycling. It is also good to have the cardio-training for 2–3 months before the trek.

If you feel unwell during the trek, notify your guides and monitor your symptoms carefully. Acute mountain sickness can progress to pulmonary edema (fluid in your lungs) or cerebral edema (swelling of your brain). If it is not treated on time, these can be fatal.

Necessary items that should be included in backpack– Water Purification Tablets, General Medications paracetamol, Imodium, Basic First Aid Kit, Sun-cream, Lip balm, hand sanitizer and any prescribed medicines

Necessary Permits Required For Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) permit fee for Foreigners: 3,000 NPR (Approx. US $30)

Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) permit: 1,000 NPR (Approx. US $10)

Permits and TIMS cards can be purchased in the Nepal Tourism Board Office on Pradarshani Marg, Kathmandu. Permits can also be purchased in Pokhara at the Nepal Tourism Board Service Center in Damside or at the ACAP entry permit counter in Besisahar, Lamjung. TIMS cards can also be purchased from the TAAN Lakeside office in Santi Patan, Pokhara.

Price Ranges from 900–2000 USD according to your accommodation and means of transport.

Flight Cost (Kathmandu to Pokhara) — $240 (2 ways — price may differ)

Bus Cost (Kathmandu to Pokhara) — $08-$20 (depends on way of transport — local bus)

Hotel Cost in Pokhara — $20 — $40

Drive to Nayapul — $04–$10 (depends on way of transport)

Private transportation will cost higher

Food (B/L/D) — $10–$40 per day (Please ask for menu)

The accommodation in Himalayas will normally cost low in Annapurna Region — $04–$10 in sharing basis — for single room cost will be higher

Charging Mobile Phones / Drinking water — may cost around $10–$30 in the entire trip

Trekking during the peak seasons; Autumn (Sep-Oct-Nov) and Spring (March-April-May) will be slightly costlier than Off Season. If you’re trekking in off trekking seasons, a price can drop significantly.
